Today, MASCOT Vietnam received a prestigious award for the high standards in the three factories in Vietnam.
The Chairman of Hai Duong People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duong Thai, expressed his appreciation by referring to MASCOT's excellence as a company, including reliability as a taxpayer and our social contributions to the welfare of our workers.
The award ceremony was part of the celebration of the annual 'Business Day' in Vietnam.
MASCOT employs approx. 2.000 employees in Vietnam and in Laos. Due to the high labour standards, in-house education programmes and modern technology, MASCOT's production unit is known to be one of the most efficient in Asia while producing high quality workwear.
The factories in both MASCOT Vietnam and MASCOT Laos are SA 8000 certified. SA 8000 is documented proof of a safe and secure working environment. Companies with SA 8000 are able to show and prove that they do not use child or forced labour, that they have a good working environment adapted to local conditions, right of association, no discrimination, reasonable working hours and wages and an efficient management system including control of the subcontractors staff conditions.
Ever since the establishment of the factory in Vietnam MASCOT has had European management and European labour standards including health insurance, free canteen, trade union, a high safety level and free medical clinic for all employees. It has been a natural formalisation of the existing working conditions to implement the structured process required by SA 8000 certification.
